Are there more tips to enhance your mobile app content?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201c<em>All truly great thoughts are conceived while walking.<\/em>\u201d\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Friedrich_Nietzsche\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Friedrich Nietzsche<\/a>, German philosopher\u00a0said a long time ago.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;While walking&#8221;? Or did this visionary 19th-century man\u00a0actually mean &#8220;while mobile learning&#8221; :-)!\u00a0Well, in addition to enabling thinking while walking and (mobile) learning,\u00a0how could you best shape your contents to stimulate learners&#8217; thinking process and therefore improve your training efficiency?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Here are a few thoughtful advices.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">First, I may have mentioned it in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.teachonmars.com\/blog\/en\/2015\/07\/the-age-of-bite-sized-learning-is-now\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">former paper<\/a> already? I insist! Learners\u00a0best process information in <strong>bite-sized chunks<\/strong>. <span style=\"color: #339966;\">The brain can only process small amount of information at a time<\/span>. Have you heard of the concept of <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Progressive_disclosure\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">progressive disclosure<\/a>? It consists of showing learners what they need when they need it. Loads refer to the amount of mental resources needed when completing an action.\u00a0Some kinds of mental processing are more challenging than others!\u00a0In design, loads are split into 3 types:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">A <em><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Cognitive_load\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">cognitive<\/a><\/em> load is when you think about or\u00a0remember something, do a mental calculation&#8230;<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">A <em><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Visual_perception\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">visual<\/a><\/em> load refers to looking at something, finding something on a screen&#8230;<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">A <em><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Motor_skill\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">motor<\/a><\/em> load is when you press a button, click, move a mouse\u2026<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cognitive loads use more resources than visual loads, which in turn call for more resources than motor loads.\u00a0When designing an interface, <span style=\"color: #339966;\">the fewer mental resources i.e. loads are needed, the easier the application is to use<\/span>. An interface that primarily appeals to motor then visual loads will leave more resources to the user to focus on the purpose of the application, in our case, learning. It may be better to have more clicks if they\u00a0give user a sense of logic.<\/p>\n<div style=\"border: 1px solid black; text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Tip<\/span>:\u00a0Favor motor and visual loads when designing your application<\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Teach on Mars illustration on using motor and visual loads:\u00a0<span style=\"color: #000000;\">Quiz Drapeaux du monde. And wander! A <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mind-wandering\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">wandering mind<\/a> is said to be more creative, some researchers state. Whatever your degree of creativity, mind wandering is a very common phenomenon. During everyday activities, our mind would wander up to 30 percent of the time!\u00a0Mind wandering is about doing one task and fading into thinking about something unrelated to that task.\u00a0Failing to stop this natural behavior, yet we can inform learners about where they are so that if they wander, it\u2019s easier for them to get back to the original location or go to the next.<\/p>\n<div style=\"border: 1px solid black; text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Tip<\/span>:\u00a0Keep learners aware of where they are in the application.
