Here are the main takeaways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-why-are-carousels-so-useful-in-mobile-learning\"><strong>Why are carousels so useful in mobile learning?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Le carrousel est omnipr\u00e9sent dans l\u2019univers digital, des r\u00e9seaux sociaux aux plateformes de mCarousels are ubiquitous in the digital universe; on social media and mobile learning platforms. This fun and interactive format is the perfect tool for building learning content, while stimulating learner attention and engagement. But are you using it effectively?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During our SkyLAB, we explored the three main pillars of a successful carousel:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Clear and snappy structure<\/strong>: Each card should convey a strong idea to avoid cognitive overload.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Engaging design<\/strong>: A coherent layout and visual elements, such as icons, images and videos to help messages be assimilated.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Effective storytelling<\/strong>: The card order and progression should naturally guide learners towards understanding and memorization.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>12 recommendations for an effective course carousel<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During our session, we shared 12 key recommendations for designing effective and engaging carousels. Here are details of the 12 recommendations for designing effective mobile learning carousels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading has-vivid-red-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-86e60a027972259ac230c73525d86068\" id=\"h-1-limit-the-number-of-cards-10-maximum-to-ensure-smooth-learning\"><strong>1. Limit the number of cards (10 maximum) to ensure smooth learning<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Overly lengthy carousels can discourage learners and dilute the impact of the message. It\u2019s best not to exceed 10 cards in order to remain concise and engaging. Remember to prioritize key information and to avoid cognitive overload.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading has-vivid-red-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-83742fbb30b8fea0c7faf5a2694076b0\" id=\"h-2-adapt-the-card-size-to-mobile-screens-for-optimal-display\"><strong>\u00a02. <strong>Adapt the card size to mobile screens for optimal display<\/strong><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Carousels are designed for a mobile-first experience. It\u2019s therefore essential that the card size is optimized for screens. Avoid overly long cards that require a lot of scrolling, as some learners will jump to the next card without having scrolled to the bottom of the previous one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading has-vivid-red-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-683440fa2c929b13c919950e4290d2a2\" id=\"h-3-use-explicit-titles-on-each-card-to-contextualize-information\"><strong>\u00a03. <strong>Use explicit titles on each card to contextualize information<\/strong><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>A good title should summarise the card content in just a few words and give the learner a point of reference. It should be short, clear and to the point, enabling the topic in question to be grasped quickly. For example, a title such as, &#8220;3 tips for striking up a conversation with customers&#8221; is more effective than simply putting, &#8220;Striking up Conversation&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading has-vivid-red-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-186f5b97ab4a672a248ef956aff814e9\" id=\"h-4-vary-card-formats-to-hold-interest\"><strong>\u00a04. <strong>Vary card formats to hold interest\u00a0<\/strong><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Alternating between different cards helps to create a quick tempo and avoids monotony in the course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading has-vivid-red-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-961398fb67388392e91a7e8db670f5ff\" id=\"h-5-consider-the-pace-and-progression-of-the-carousel-by-using-structures-like-storytelling-and-chronology\"><strong>\u00a05. <strong>Consider the pace and progression of the carousel by using structures like storytelling and chronology\u00a0<\/strong><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>A good carousel should smoothly guide learners from one idea to the next.
